Literacy Book- Week 6
Part One
Chbosky, S. (1999). The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Pocket Books.
Part Two
The book The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a young adult literature book that takes us readers on a personal adventure through Charlies eyes. The author did an amazing job at helping the readers gravitate towards Charlie and specifically how he overcomes his traumatic experiences and finds peace. One particular thought I had when reading this book was the geniuses the author has of including the letters he writes, but seemingly that the friend never responds back, so we are left to fend for ourselves the possibilities of who he is writing to.
Part Three
This book in particular would be considered a quality book. It has a lot of structure in terms of plot, setting, theme, and style. There is a lot of structure and the theme that is repetitive throughout the novel is the diaries that he is writing that guide us throughout the story and transformation the character undergoes. It is supposed to be a story that young adults can gravitate towards and even find themselves in situations or feelings that Charlie has. More so the book grabs the attention of a reader by the plot and intrigues readers to continue to learn more of Charlie. It is a book that is meant for a high school classroom, and is something that is easy to follow, and could follow suit with watching the movie in the classroom for comparison and discussion.
